I didn't think that binary compressed archives could be compressed much
further - that certainly couldn't account for the 4K extra a second, could
it? I don't actually know how this all works - how do you feel now about
doing an article on how the internet works? ;)

It was actually based on your reviews of other Pace modems that I got the
Pace that the new modem replaces. Of course I'm not blaming you for
anything but I tend to get the best and Pace always came across as the best
in the magazine reviews (the PCMIA verison had exactly the same chip
inside). Unfortunately, the modem I got didn't work at all when I got it.
When I sent it back they resoldered part of it then returned it to me! It
still didn't work and they refused to send me a replacement and instead
insisted that I send it back to get it fixed again. I did, very grudgingly,
it came back and it worked for a bit but by the time it had broken again
they had gone bust. £110 for a peice of crap. If they hadn't gone bust I
would have reported them to trading standards, they were a s**t company. :(
Oh, that felt good. I needed to say that... the hours I spent on the phone
to their tech support department!
It does bring me to a point though... at the minute you only review the
product at AA, any chance of a quick review of the company if they aren't a
biggy, if they're unknown or small? Just some additional stats in the
header of the page:
Turnover Last Year:
Profit Last Year:
Number of Employees:
Only number two really matters, although it might seem strange just to have
it on the page without the others.

The modem before never got more than 5.6K a second and it was a 56k PCMIA
one as well.
